We have evaluated toxicity of numerous drugs, including organ-specific
toxicity, LC50, teratogenic effects, and developmental toxicity (ZETAXTM).
Toxic responses in zebrafish are comparable to those in mammals,
providing a unique opportunity for thoroughly investigating toxicity
in the in vivo context, prior to expensive and time-consuming mammalian
animal testing. Phylonix has established standard procedures to
efficiently and reliably evaluate toxicity. Drugs are delivered
either by addition to growth medium or by microinjection.
We examine toxicity by visual assessment of morphological changes
of organs and tissues, standard histopathology, and specific toxicity
assays using in vivo vital dye labeling and staining with antibodies
that are specific for particular cells, tissues, and organs. Examples
of typical assays are listed below. Studies can be custom designed
and volume discounts are available. Please inquire.
